In many ways, LiveU IP bonding and cloud-based solutions are “greener-by-nature”, facilitating sustainable live productions for our customers.

We are now taking steps to reduce our own environmental footprint at the operational level across our global offices. We also strive to ensure the highest levels of employee wellbeing, while giving back to the community, being more eco-friendly and engaging in ethical business practices.

From its inception, LiveU technology and solutions have been about facilitating greater efficiency in live production. That is the core of our bonded transmission evolution, helping customers to reduce both costs and their environmental footprint.

In 2022, we formally embarked on our own internal journey to consciously embed Environmental and Social goals and targets into the company’s strategy and daily operations. With management commitment, we appointed a dedicated Head of ESG, engaged with consultants, and formalized our company practices.

We see ESG, in particular sustainability, as an evolving journey to positively impact the world in which we operate and mitigate any adverse impacts. As a business, we aim to deliver our services in line with our values to our customers, partners, employees, investors, and other stakeholders.

Believing that every effort counts, we are committed to setting a strong example with initiatives, such as packaging materials recycling, sustainable office renovations and reducing emissions in air shipments.

Building on a track record of innovation and delivering sustainability initiatives, we have started to formalize processes to identify, monitor, and integrate our ESG activities. We believe that a holistic approach, encompassing daily practices, is critical and we’re continuing to collect data and develop working procedures, such as reviewing our power consumption towards greater operational efficiency.

The following sections provide an overview and quantifiable targets we’ve set ourselves.

Environmental

Highlights and targets for 2024

  • ESG Management

    We have appointed someone in the business to coordinate ESG topics across our company. This includes developing and implementing policies, processes and tools. We also engage our employees and board on this journey. We are starting to report some ESG data externally, beginning with our investors as well as the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP).

  • Carbon Footprint

    We monitor our energy consumption and report GHG emissions to CDP. We strive to improve steadily on our carbon and climate journey, e.g. we are collecting 100% of our Scope 1+2 GHG emissions data. We are aiming to calculate 100% of our material Scope 3 GHG data by 2025 and move to 100% renewable energy supply in all our facilities by 2027, reducing our operational emissions.

  • Supply Chain ESG Management

    We are developing a supply chain ESG evaluation and aim to cover at least 50% of our main upstream/downstream suppliers by 2025. We are also rolling out best practices where it matters, e.g. taking part in DHL’s GoGreen initiative to purchase sustainable aviation fuel to reduce our transport emissions.

  • Packaging Recycling

    We are targeting 90% of our products/ shipping materials to be recyclable.

  • Optimizing Cloud Operations

    We are targeting 10% reduction (normalized) in our cloud operations (reducing instances, uptime, etc.).

  • Sustainable Offices

    Our renovations have included E/V charging stations, local furniture, recycled materials, efficient A/C-heating, hybrid working, waste separation, etc.

  • Holistic Annual Social Plan

    We set goals, monitor execution, and provide feedback covering 80% of our activities for employees and the community.

  • Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

    DEI is an integral, consistent part of LiveU's business conduct.

  • Employee Wellbeing

    At the heart of our tech innovation lies our most valuable asset: our people. We are committed to fostering an environment that draws and inspires top talent: promoting equality (increasing no. of women in mgmt by 25% by 2025), career dev, company/team activities (more than 2x a year), training (onboarding, products & power skills initiative), hybrid workplace (2 or 3 days from home depending on role).

  • Giving Back to the Community

    We have implemented an Annual Volunteer Plan with employee involvement in over 20 local charities in three continents and four countries. We also support a range of employee and company donations (e.g. food contributions, sponsored runs, school supplies, children's games for hospitals) and provide technical broadcast support for environmental causes and more.

  • Business Mentoring

    We work with start-up leaders, students and others on a volunteer basis.

  • Broadcast Industry Sponsorships

    We celebrate women in the industry, support for freelance newsgatherers.
