Redefining News Production: How LiveU’s Automated Workflows Are Changing the Game

In today’s fast-paced media landscape, efficiency isn’t just a buzzword – it’s a necessity. With news cycles moving at lightning speed and audiences demanding more content than ever before on their preferred platform, production teams need solutions that streamline workflows without sacrificing quality. LiveU’s latest EcoSystem innovations with its best-of-breed partners, showcased at NAB 2025, are poised to transform how our customers create, produce and distribute content cost-effectively while opening the doors to new monetization streams and serving growing digital audiences.

The Power of IP-Positive Architecture

The expanded EcoSystem is a powerful set of modular components that can be configured and reconfigured across various workflows to answer every type of live production challenge. At the heart of LiveU’s approach is our IP-Positive architecture, designed with interoperability as its foundation. This isn’t just about connecting different systems – it’s about creating an ecosystem where various production tools work together seamlessly, eliminating the technical barriers that often slow down content creation.

At the core of these latest integrations is LiveU’s Ingest automatic recording and story metadata tagging solution. LiveU Ingest allows live content to be accessed from anywhere and serves as the central hub for all the workflows, connecting live video from the field and growing files with NRCSs (newsroom computer systems), AI-enabled transcription, MAM (media asset management), and storage systems.

Looking Ahead

As expanding digital audiences continue to reshape media consumption patterns, LiveU’s approach represents more than just a technical upgrade – it’s a strategic advantage. By freeing creators to focus on crafting compelling stories while handling the technical complexity behind the scenes, LiveU is helping media organizations adapt to an increasingly competitive landscape.

The future of news and sports production isn’t just about better technology – it’s about better storytelling and improved efficiency enabled by smarter workflows. And that’s exactly what LiveU is delivering at NAB 2025.

More information on LiveU’s story-centric workflows and cloud storage collaboration:

Story-centric workflows:

  • LiveU + Dina, Mimir + Trint: This NEW AI-enabled integrated solution creates immediate value by ingesting live content, making it instantly accessible alongside rich, searchable metadata (via Dina) and growing real-time transcription (via Trint) in Mimir’s MAM system. Content is easier to find and edit so that editors can begin working in real-time from any location as files continue to grow. Content can also be re-used and repurposed for new revenue-generating opportunities. See the solution in action at booths #SL6826 (Dina and Mimir), #SL6005 (Trint) and #SL4911 (LiveU).

How it works: The Dina cloud newsroom tool sets up the story in the LiveU Central management platform. LiveU field units capture the footage and LiveU Ingest creates, records and feeds the growing live files with the associated metadata from the stories generated by Dina and growing real-time transcription captured in the moment from Trint. Trint sends the live feeds to remote collaborators to rewind, play back and verify quotes while the event unfolds (running on both desktop and mobile and supporting 30+ languages). The content is passed to Mimir with growing transcription, with all the workflows fully automated and synchronized at all times.

  • LiveU + Marquis + Avid: LiveU and Marquis are now bringing growing file support to Avid systems to streamline news and sports production workflows. The enhanced solution gives customers the ability to begin editing as soon as live recording starts and supports metadata-based auto-ingest for improved efficiency. See the solution in action at booths #SL4528 (Marquis), #SL1516 (Avid) and #SL4911 (LiveU).

    How it works:
Media with its associated metadata is automatically ingested into Avid systems via LiveU Ingest and Marquis Medway, enabling customers to use their preferred editing environment. The growing file workflow is enabled via Marquis Medway middleware, which connects LiveU Ingest directly with Avid. Growing file support lets customers begin editing as soon as live recording starts, dramatically reducing the time required to create a final edited programme or versions for different platforms. The joint solution can be installed with just a few channels, so that it’s ready and fast to scale-up quickly. Metadata-based auto-ingest delivery pushes media directly into the correct location, while automatic export of genealogy information to downstream systems makes searches and rights-handling simpler.
  • LiveU + AP Storytelling: LiveU and AP Storytelling are teaming up to support a story-centric workflow whereby AP Storytelling is able to generate story metadata in LiveU Central allowing field operators to easily select them and assign them to any live transmission. Live content is recorded in LiveU Ingest with the relevant associated metadata providing a faster news turnaround. See the solution in action at booths #SL1905 (AP Workflow Solutions) and #SL4911 (LiveU).

Streamlined creative collaboration

  • LiveU + LucidLink: LucidLink and LiveU enable live content to be brought directly into LucidLink’s storage collaboration platform as part of a seamless cloud-based workflow for content creators, broadcasters, and production teams. LiveU DataBridge provides essential connectivity for remote LucidLink users to connect and collaborate from anywhere. See the solution in action at booths #SL2705 (LucidLink) and #SL4911 (LiveU).

How it works: Live feeds from the field recorded in LiveU Ingest can automatically be handed off into LucidLink’s storage collaboration platform, allowing simple remote collaboration and post-production. This eliminates the need for large file transfers, allowing teams to edit and produce content in real time whether they’re covering breaking news, sports, or live events maximizing efficiency and speed in the production process.
