November 17

LiveU at the heart of Election Day coverage with 1,200 simultaneous streams, nearly 8,000 hours of continuous live broadcasting

Hackensack, NJ, November 17, 2016 – LiveU covered every mile of the road to U.S. Election Day 2016 culminating with record-breaking numbers for the company on Election Day: 1,800 portable transmission packs in use, nearly 8,000 hours of streaming, and 212 equipment rentals. LiveU played a central role in bringing the most comprehensive Election 2016 coverage to the 71 million viewers tuned in around the world. LiveU has been the solution of choice for top global and national broadcast TV and online outlets and Election 2016 confirmed how valuable the LiveU platform is for high profile news events. The LiveU Central management portal proved to be mission critical on Election Night, supporting more than 1,200 simultaneous streams and managing 17 Terabytes of data.

“The 2016 U.S. Presidential Election brought a massive amount of global attention. We’ve provided an affordable and high-quality solution to ensure our national and international customers could adequately cover every angle of the election,” said Avi Cohen, LiveU’s Co-founder & COO. “Our technology has been a game-changer for broadcast and online content creators and allowed them to go live anywhere, anytime – without budget or space limitations. We also ramped up our service offerings with on the ground support to give our customers an added layer of support and peace of mind.”

LiveU Support: Second to none

LiveU provided onsite support, Wi-Fi and equipment rentals at nearly every major political event this year including the RNC, DNC, debates, and Election Day coverage throughout the United States.

For Election Day, LiveU collaborated closely with campaign management to provide onsite support and extra equipment at both Clinton and Trump Victory Celebration locations. LiveU also deployed an expansive team of engineers and specific Wi-Fi hotspots throughout NYC to support its global customer base who arrived to cover the election.

Global Reach

The U.S. Presidential Election generated tremendous global interest. International broadcasters from Europe, Asia, and Latin America accounted for more than 50% of the equipment rentals.

“We had a surge in interest from our international customers to cover the election,” noted Cohen, “Our solution provided by the US team locally gave organizations from outside the US immediate access, flexibility, and reliability to cover this historic event efficiently.”

Inauguration Day

LiveU will be onsite in Washington, DC to support all of our customers on Inauguration Day - January 20, 2017. LiveU will be offering dedicated Wi-Fi, equipment rentals, and onsite customer support.

Here’s what LiveU customers had to say throughout Election 2016:

“In our Election Special, we wanted the greatest possible flexibility so that we could have our reporters out among ordinary American voters, talking to them as the night unfolded. LiveU gave us that flexibility and worked flawlessly throughout.”

“LiveU made the event easier to manage. We weren’t limited to one location, we didn’t need to worry about cabling, and we could turn interviews around fast. LiveU was rock-solid the whole day. The onsite service and support from LiveU gave me and our crew peace of mind that things would go well. And everything did go well.”

– Bill McCormac, News Operations Manager, KMOV-TV

“LiveU has changed the way we cover news. The technology performed perfectly in the midst of massive protest crowds and allowed us to capture quality video as we followed the protesters and witnessed the police handle the different situations.”
